Friday Focus - Crafty Secrets CDs

This week at Frilly and Funky, I'm sharing a fun little project that was made with patterned paper and a template that are found on Crafty Secret's 'Creating with Vintage Illustrations', CD #2... (Our Friday Focus products at The Funkie Junkie Boutique are 15% off this week are the Craft Secrets Vintage Illustrations and Vintage Patterns CDs - that's an extra 15% over and above the 10% off reopening sale price!)

I chose this darling little slipper, thinking how wonderfully vintage it will be, full of pretty treats and hanging from a tree, a wreath or any place around the house! I cut out two soles (bases) and two back heel pieces which allowed me to sandwich the trim between the two layers for a very 'finished' look...
If you have access to a colored printer, you can print the pattern of your choice from this CD, onto white card stock and feed it back into the printer with the pattern facing up. The second time, choose the template you desire and overprint that template onto your pattern.

Half of a metal filagree ornament was used on the front of the shoe along with a gold button, embellished with rhinestones and a half pearl. I used wire snips to cut the shank off of the button before adhering it to the shoe. Gold leaf ribbon was glued to the edges and a cotton appliqué of a fan was dipped into a solution of 1/2 water and 1/2 white glue to stiffen it. I tucked it under the upper layer, flaring it out for some panache! Behind that is another layer of scalloped, patterned tissue paper. A little hole punched at the back of the shoe accomodates a thin gold cord for hanging and it's all ready for some lovely treats to be tucked inside...

Thanks for taking a few minutes of your very busy day to stop by. I hope you're inspired to steal a few minutes to create something!!

*Hugs*
Rebecca

  8. I absolutely LOVE this, so pretty, so feminine! I have the CD but my stupid printer won't accept cards rock. Do you think I could print the template on regular printer paper and trace it onto card stock?

    Really beautiful work!
